Nearly a year has passed since Benson Boone opened for Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium in London during her record-setting Eras Tour, and although he is a major fan now, that was not always the case.
The 22-year-old musician recently spoke with Rolling Stone in a newly released interview, where he reflects on the moment he was informed about the opportunity to open for Swift. “I wasn’t really familiar with her,” Boone shared with the magazine. “Her team reached out, and I literally, like, jumped out of my seat. I couldn’t believe it. It was wild, so I started diving into more of her music. I didn’t want to attend that show without knowing anything.”
He has since become an admirer. “She is an extraordinary performer and has an unbelievable world surrounding her that is unparalleled,” he noted. “It’s amazing to witness how vast her show is, with so many moving elements behind the scenes that no one is aware of. She is truly unique. Such an authentic individual. I had the honor of conversing with her for a bit, and she’s incredibly nice.”

Boone added, “And she recognized me onstage, which was unnecessary. It genuinely altered my view on many aspects that I wish to carry into my own career. Just the way I interact with others and my team, observing how she engages with people. There are numerous individuals who don’t appreciate Taylor Swift. Everyone has their own views, but if you have a negative opinion of her and you don’t know her, I believe that isn’t just.”
2024 marked a significant year for Boone, beyond his role at the Eras Tour, due to the release of his Billboard Hot 100 No. 2 single, “Beautiful Things.” He showcased this track at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where he received a nomination for best new artist.
