The Japanese heavy metal group BABYMETAL is set to launch their new era by announcing the release of their fifth studio album today.
Continuing their tradition, the latest updates regarding the band were revealed on Fox Day (April 1, Japan time), a day generally chosen by the group for major announcements. The headline for 2025 is the anticipated release of BABYMETAL’s fifth album, Metal Forth, set to drop on June 13.
This ten-track album features numerous collaborations, with contributions from artists such as Spiritbox, Polyphia, Bloodywood, and Slaughter to Prevail. The album will also include earlier singles from the band, such as the 2023 track featuring Tom Morello titled “METALI!!” and their 2024 collaboration with Electric Callboy, “Ratatata.” Additionally, excitement builds for the upcoming single “From Me to U,” featuring guest vocals from Poppy, which is set to release on Friday (April 4).
BABYMETAL was established in 2010 and launched their self-titled debut album in 2014. Although the album reached No. 187 on the Billboard 200, later releases saw greater success, with 2016’s Metal Resistance earning a No. 39 spot and 2019’s Metal Galaxy achieving No. 13.
In 2023, they released their fourth album, The Other One, which was their first not to make the Billboard 200, and also marked the duo’s first release after Yuimetal departed in 2018. Following the addition of Momometal as an official member in 2023, the upcoming album is said to signify a new chapter for the band, with its title representing “beyond metal,” alongside news of their new signing with Capitol Records being unveiled.
On Monday (March 31), Capitol Records announced that this partnership positions BABYMETAL as “the first Japanese artist to secure a frontline deal with the label.”
“BABYMETAL’s innovative sound and unique artistic vision have not only earned them a global fanbase but have also significantly impacted music culture globally,” remarked Capitol Records Chairman & CEO, Tom March. “We at Capitol Records are excited to accompany them into this new chapter, amplifying their international presence and impact with the upcoming launch of Metal Forth.”
The release of Metal Forth on June 13 will also coincide with the start of a 24-date North American tour for the band, with plans for additional dates in Europe, the U.K., and Asia to supplement their existing schedule.
