His musical odyssey began in childhood, deeply influenced by the jazz and big band sounds adored by his stepdad, which ignited Bill’s passion for iconic bands such as Chicago. It was the magic of FM rock radio that truly transformed his musical landscape, marking the start of a lifelong romance with rock music.
Inspired by Mel Schacher’s masterful bass playing from Grand Funk Railroad, Bill was driven to master the bass guitar himself, a decision that has brought endless joy through playing the hits that have significantly shaped his musical identity.
Before gracing the airwaves, Bill dedicated 13 years to the Navy as an Aviation AntiSubmarine Warfare Operator. Although his service didn’t include sea voyages, his commitment never wavered, and a medical discharge eventually steered him toward a new purpose.
Leveraging the VA’s VocRehab Program, Bill earned his Bachelor’s degree and delved into seminary studies. One of his most rewarding roles post-seminary was as a Chaplain to First Responders, profoundly impacting his life.
Bill’s radio career kickstarted unexpectedly when he applied to volunteer at a Christian radio station in Maine. His unique voice caught the station manager’s ear, paving the way for his overnight DJ debut on WMSJ radio in Freeport, Maine, and subsequent roles in Augusta, Maine.
With a keen awareness of the challenges faced by veterans, Bill is devoted to guiding them through the VA’s intricacies and towards vital resources. Additionally, his bond with an autistic grandson propelled him into the NEWHD Media family, where he continues to influence positively.
