Charlie Kendall
Charlie Kendall is an iconic American disc jockey whose resonant voice has graced the airwaves of many nationally syndicated radio programs. His lifelong love affair with radio began at the age of 14 during a Boy Scout tour of a local station. Stepping into the on-air studio, Kendall knew instantly that radio was his calling.
Throughout his illustrious career, Kendall left an indelible mark on legendary stations such as New York’s WNEW, Philly’s WMMR, Miami’s WSHE, Boston’s WBCN, L.A.’s KWST, Dallas’ KZEW, Cleveland’s WMMS, Boston’s WVBF, and Indianapolis’ WNAP. He even circled back to WROX-AM, the station where his passion ignited at 14, eventually becoming its owner.
Kendall’s influence expanded beyond the mic as the VP of Radio Programming for 57 stations on ClickRadio and later VP Programming for 15 stations in the LM Communications Radio Group in Lexington, KY. His nationally syndicated program “MetalShop” became a staple on over 250 stations for more than 11 years, showcasing his versatile voice on countless radio specials, promos, and commercials worldwide.
His voice became synonymous with national and international brands, including PBS’s NOVA, The Ultimate Fighting Championships, Extreme Championship Wrestling, The Billboard Music Awards, and The NBA on TNT. Kendall’s creative genius birthed groundbreaking programs like MetalShop, Rock Today, and Country Today, as well as special programs for NBC, Westwood One, HBO, and ABC Radio.
In addition to hosting and producing memorable programs like “Ticket To Ride” and “Super Stars in Concert,” Kendall contributed to historical moments such as The Who live at Radio City Music Hall and the First Rolling Stones Farewell Special for ABC Radio Networks in 1989. His legacy culminated in hosting the most listened-to radio program in the history of MJI Broadcasting, “The Metallica Memorial Day Marathon” in 2000.
