Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has given the latest update on his recovery as he steps up his return from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The Brazil international suffered the injury during the FA Cup third round defeat against Manchester United back in January. The issue ruled him out for the remainder of the season, he underwent surgery and has since been posting updates of his recovery on social media.
The latest post on his Instagram story shows him strengthening up his knee by doing a sitting stretch up against a wall. It comes after he shared a video of himself on an exercise bike last month.
While Jesus will be working to returning next season, he is joined on the side-lines for the remainder of the season by defender Gabriel Magalhaes and Takehiro Tomiyasu. Gabriel sustained the injury at the start of last month, and underwent surgery to rectify the problem – while he was spotted watching Arsenal’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid at home in a knee brace.
Tomiyasu also underwent knee surgery earlier this year. The Japan star first picked up the problem in pre-season.
One player who could return before the end of the season, though, is Kai Havertz. It did initially look like his term had also come to an early end, but Arteta has hinted that he could feature before the end of the season.

“Semi-finals? I think that’s too close,” he said. “But if I had to bet on him earlier than expected, I would say yes.”
Midfielder Jorginho has missed the last four games in all competitions with a rib injury. Arteta confirmed that the midfielder would be out for “a few weeks” – suggesting there’s a bit longer to wait until his return.
“I hope [to have Jorginho back before the end of the season], but I’m not certain,” he said. Arteta added that “the doctor was quite cautious talking about any dates.”
Also on the side-lines is defender Riccardo Calafiori. The Italy international has missed the last eight games in all competitions due to a knee injury. However, there’s no clear time-frame as to when he may return.
The good news for Arsenal is that midfielder Thomas Partey will be back in contention – for both the weekend’s Premier League game against Bournemouth and the second leg of the Champions League semi-final vs PSG. The Ghana player was forced to sit out the first leg of the tie due to suspension.
