Eternal Sunshine debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 for the week of March 23, 2024, and held the top position for its initial two weeks. The project features two chart-topping singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” The album also reenters the top 40 on the Billboard 200 for the first time since the list dated October 19, 2024, where it was ranked at No. 34.
The Billboard 200 ranks the week’s most popular albums in the U.S., based on combined consumption metrics, as determined by Luminate. These metrics incorporate album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). One unit is equal to one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or on-demand audio and video streams of 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription streams generated by songs from an album. The full April 12, 2025 chart will be published on Billboard‘s website on April 8. For all chart updates, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
With Eternal Sunshine reclaiming the number one position after a year and two weeks, it marks the second album in the past six months to return to the top spot after being absent for over a year. On the chart dated January 4, 2025, SZA’s SOS made its comeback after spending 22 months away from No. 1, leading the chart following the reissue of SOS Deluxe: LANA.
Moreover, Eternal Sunshine has achieved the highest jump to No. 1 (from 87 to 1) since last September, when Travis Scott’s Days Before Rodeo rose from 106 to 1 on the list dated September 28, 2024, after its vinyl version was sent to customers.
From Eternal Sunshine’s total of 137,000 equivalent album units for the week ending April 3, SEA units accounted for 75,000 (an increase of 541%, indicating 98.45 million on-demand official streams of its songs; it reenters at No. 2 on Top Streaming Albums), traditional sales accounted for 61,000 (up 5,338%, reentering at No. 1 on Top Album Sales for a second week at the top), and TEA units comprised 1,000 (up 4,115%).
Sales of Eternal Sunshine were enhanced by its various editions released alongside the Brighter Days Ahead launch. The original Eternal Sunshine album consisted of 13 tracks, whereas the main Brighter Days Ahead album added six additional tracks: one extended version of “Inro (End of the World)” and five new songs.
Grande’s official store sold three exclusive download variants of the album: a 19-track edition, a version with those 19 tracks plus instrumentals, and another version featuring the 19 tracks along with a cappella renditions of each (all including alternate cover art). Additionally, she released two vinyl editions and six CD variants of the reissue (some signed), containing the 19 tracks plus three bonus songs originally available on the album’s earlier “slightly deluxe” versions.
Playboi Carti’s MUSIC drops to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 after a two-week stint at No. 1, accumulating 91,000 equivalent album units (down 31%). However, it remains at the top of the Top Streaming Albums chart for a third consecutive week.
Lil Durk achieves his seventh top 10 entry on the Billboard 200 as Deep Thoughts debuts at No. 3 with 64,000 equivalent album units. In its first week, SEA units amounted to 63,000 (equating to 85.92 million on-demand official streams, debuting at No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums), while album sales reached 1,000 and TEA units were minimal.
The remainder of the Billboard 200 top 10 consists of former number one albums.
