Andy Carhart is a skilled solo artist and multi-instrumentalist from Colorado who creates music embracing many styles; his music is inspired by a mission of personal growth, evolution of soul, and a strengthened connection to mindfulness, as evidenced with his latest track ‘All Those Times’ which releases to major streaming platforms and his website, andycarthart.com on June 28, 2024.
To coincide with the release, Andy sat down with Z-GR! Radio host and Zero-G Racetrack frontman Scot Apathy to talk about the track. Apathy and Carhart have been fans of each other’s work and friendly via social media for several years, so this presented the perfect opportunity for a virtual face-to-face.
“Andy has always been really supportive of my band, my emerging artists playlist ‘Floating Around the Racetrack!’ and now NEWHD’s Z-GR! Radio, so I’m thrilled that he agreed to be the first Z-GR! Radio artist that I’ll interview for NEWHD’s Take 5. Supporting our own work by supporting other artists is something we both feel strongly about”, states Apathy.
‘All Those Times’ is also featured on Episode 18 of NEWHD’s Z-GR! Radio, which debuts Friday June 28th at 7PM Pacific on NEWHD Los Angeles and runs again on Saturday June 29th at 9PM Eastern on NEWHD New York, and can be streamed directly from newhdmedia.com.
All Those Times
Andy describes the song as follows:
“Like many of my songs, this one evolved through several phases over a few years before it was finished. It has two elements that I’m particularly excited to tell you about!”
“First, as I thought the song was just about done, I started hearing a fiddle part. After thinking about and experimenting with a few ideas, I had a suggestion from one of my indie music friends Gary (from The Future Us; an outstanding rock band) to check out a guitar bow, which I ended up buying. Definitely a learning curve on that thing! At first, I wanted it to sound just like a violin but quickly learned of its quirky nature. So, I stopped trying to make it sound like something that it wasn’t and embraced its unique character. At times I could only produce horrific noises (thank you studio edits!) but eventually, the sound became a ‘fiddle’ part that compliments the track quite nicely, if I say so myself. And I do!”
“Second, and even more importantly, I’ve talked at times about how my Mom has been a massive supporter of me and an inspiration, as she’s a wonderfully talented musician. I was playing this song for her and she started singing a harmony along with it. While that’s not really unusual, this time I felt that having her be a part of this would be particularly special, so you’ll hear her voice throughout the song too. Some of you know we lost my Dad just before Christmas and in my grief, I’m reminded again that each day we can share the things we love with the people we love is an absolute blessing. We never know how much time we have. A huge thank you to my Mom for doing this with me.”
Andy’s love for musical diversity is reflected deeply within his body of work that caters both to fans of the eclectic and lovers of technical proficiency as he draws inspiration from many genres and combines them with the teachings of life.
Andy’s music showcases a passion for both the acoustic and electric guitar. He offers a wide variety of contemplative works that invite the listener to embrace the moods and emotions of the changing moments of life. Andy brings forth a unique and immediately identifiable artistic style through the seamless blend of genres including instrumental guitar, rock, folk, and electronica.
His latest releases include the heartfelt Americana song All Those Times (2024), Do You Believe (2024) his second collaboration with Argentina based electro-artist Atrip, Of All the Places (2023) an alternative rock anthem, Underground (2022) and Stairs (2021) both collaborative folk singles with the Paris, France based Pernicious Birds, and Someplace; Sometime (2021) an EP offering five diverse and powerfully emotional songs.
