The Denver Nuggets ended their season in a blowout 125–93 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals, and Nikola Jokić was clearly not happy. Jokić is in his prime, but it was the second consecutive time the Nuggets were eliminated in the semifinals since winning the NBA title in 2023.
So, what does Jokić plan to do to cope with the loss? The only way he knows, a lot of beers.
Nikola Jokić Jokes About Drinking a Lot of Beer To Cope With Nuggets’ Elimination
Denver had no business hanging with the Thunder in this series, but Jokić ensured it stretched to seven games. However, the Thunder, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, were simply too good on Sunday and are now headed to the Western Conference Finals.
Jokić, meanwhile, is uncertain about his plans in the offseason but for the immediate future, he is planning to drink a lot of beer.
“I need to decide. There is a EuroBasket,” Jokić added on the summer tournament, scheduled between August 27 and September 14. “I need to talk with the coaches and some of the main players. And we will see. But for now, for the next couple of days, there will be a lot of beer probably.”

That’s some way to wash off a tough series defeat, but it’s Jokić, and he does it his way. It’s worth noting that he is the same person who didn’t want to go to Denver’s championship parade in 2023 because he wanted to be home in Serbia with his horses.
Nevertheless, he may still head off to Serbia for the offseason now. Jokić goes to Serbia to be with his family whenever he’s not playing basketball. He married his loving wife, Natalija, and kept their pregnancy a secret. Ognjena was born in September 2021, and the couple often shared pictures of their daughter. The couple also has a son born in November 2024.
Other than Christian Braun with 19 points, no one really stepped up to help Jokić overcome the Thunder in Game 7. He finished the night with 20 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists, and while it didn’t even match his performance in Game 6, even such a showing wouldn’t have proven enough to stop the Thunder.

When the Nuggets came into Game 6 facing elimination, they showed their championship pedigree to even the proceedings. The Joker had a storming game, scoring 29 points, grabbing 14 boards, and dishing out eight assists to keep the ball moving.
But Oklahoma City eventually had the last laugh in Game 7, and while they now celebrate with champagne, Jokić will have a couple of cold ones at home.
